hospital visit

we arrived yesterday after an hour's drive regionally in Hithadhoo Hospital (HRH)
. If our medical facilities in the Medical Center have been exhausted, we send our patients for further outpatient investigations, or - in worse cases - for hospital admission in this hospital. Due to this cooperation, we were very interested in us to look at this hospital again. Our lovely "assistant" Shina, from the Medical Center took about two days to arrange this event. On arrival we received a very nice doctor to show us everything. He himself is from India (Bangalore: Our next goal late October) and working here for 6 years.
Hithadhoo The regional hospital is comparable with 50 beds at most a primary care hospital, with the European standard of today, however. On the part of the decor and furnishings have been visiting the impression of a hospital in the 60s.

16 physicians working in the hospital, almost all from India. The nurses are partly indigenous, partly also from India and Sri Lanka.
has the stationary area of the hospital on an emergency room with utility and study room.
There are 2 stations for adults. are 10 beds in all the mixed patients (subjects and gender) housed - A unit consists of one room each with 8. Patients are cared for by many members and also provided with food from home. The medical equipment is the base facilities in Germany. The standard drugs are produced by pharmaceutical companies in the Asian region economically. More expensive drugs like eg tetanus vaccine are passive here, as opposed to our Medical Center and Germany, not available.
delivery room

There is a pediatric unit with seven beds, a maternity ward (2 births / day) with 4 beds and an isolation unit with 7 beds, but as needed, is used differently.
Each year in May, will be accommodated at this station, all boys with circumcision.
Currently it looks more like a palliative care room.
The intensive care unit with 2 beds and 2 ventilators (one from Lübeck: Evita 1) is not designed for intensive therapy, but only to bridge the waiting period designed to transport to Male. This is the hospital's own "ambulance" and with a regular domestic flight (Stretcher) settled. How ventilated patients are transported, we have not experienced.
are On simple X-ray and diagnostic laboratory tests and gynecological ultrasound available. There is no CT, no abdominal ultrasound (which is often very helpful) and no more expensive laboratory tests.
The HRH supplied with a small dental clinic all-ENT, gynecology, internal medicine, ophthalmology and pediatric diseases. The supply of small departments is generally available on all days, but on Fridays and Saturdays for emergencies only on call. Internal and General medicine, surgery and paediatrics in the 24-hour service available
The latest achievement was introduced an electronic patient record. The paper replaces the standard archiving. What is really good too, see photo.

is well organized health care. Young mother received instruction in baby care and prevention. The vaccination program is well established with the standard basic immunizations (polio, tetanus, diphtheria, measles, and rubella for girls) . In the older patient can not assume a complete vaccination.
The staff is very concerned about the rooms are clean. For the options that are available here, it was largely unexpected positive even if the facilities are far below European standards.
